End stages of lung cancer?
My dad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer last January. We were told 3 weeks ago the chemo had stopped working and he was given 2-4 weeks. He is on morphine pills which keep him out of pain. He isn’t eating anymore….and can’t walk unless he is assisted with a walker. What can we expect? Is there a way to tell how much time he has left at this point?
We were told 3 weeks ago the cancer had spread to his stomach, lymph nodes and liver.
What will happen in the end stages of lung cancer?
My dad is 53, and he has only told me he has Cancer.
It is in his lungs, and he has told me that it has spread all through his body. He wants no treatment.
He gets too emotional to talk about it and I can’t get exact answers from him.
He has become depressed and has started to abuse alcohol a lot. These actions along with mixing his Oxycontin Morphine makes him someone I no longer recognize during parts of the day.
I can’t tell if it has moved to his brain, or if it is he drug/drinking combo.
He is in a lot of pain, and sleeps alot. He calls me in the middle of the night, and asks me if it is day or night. He is confused sometimes, but other times is normal. He lives alone, and I am an hour away.
I am in my 20′s and the only one who knows.
I do not know what do to.
What should I be prepared for in the emd stages? How can I tell if it is near, and when I should be with him all the time (he is proud and stubborn).
I will appreciate any answers. I am in Canada, and treatments are not an option to him.
Thank you,
bb.
[Medical Question] Confused regarding the stages of lung cancer…?
A patient is diagnosed with an apical right upper lobe non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is considered treatable by surgery and a pneumonectomy is performed. However, a few weeks later, he notices a lump in his (R) axilla, which is proven by biopsy to be NSCLC.
Now my question: regarding this patient’s TNM stage, does an enlarged ipsilateral axillary node count as N1 or M1. I ask because the difference has an impact on the stage of the cancer, thus impacting their management plan.
so are axillary lymph nodes considered “regional” or “distant” in the context of NSC lung cancer?
I have a friend who is EXTREMELY close to her Grandpa and he is in the last stages of lung cancer.?

What signs do you look for when someone is dying of lung cancer and their time is almost up?
I have a friend who is in the final stages of lung cancer. Her nursed say it is now up to God. She is not responding much to any of us. I am staying with her night and day now and I want to know what is happening as it happens. I also want to know what more I can do to make her last days easier for her, or if there is anything that can be done. It is so hard watching someone that use weigh over 230lbs, lose down to under 8olbs and she use to be so full of energy and life and now she just lays there. So if anybody knows what signs to look for and of anything that might make her more comfortable, I would really appreciate your help.. Thanks
What is the right kind of food for an advanced lung cancer patient?
My father is in the final stages of lung cancer and is having sever direaha, I was wondering if there was a website out there that would give us some ideas on the right kinds of food to feed him so that he is more comfortable?
What is the survival rate of lung cancer?
I know that it is based mostly on the 5-year survival rate of 14 percent, but I believe that must mostly be because most people don’t find out until it’s in its later stages.
My friend is 18 and just found out he has lung cancer. He’s going in for more tests to confirm what stage it is in but it can’t be that far along I’m guessing with how young he is. Do you have any information as to the survival rate of those in the preliminary stages of lung cancer? What are the chances of eradicating it?
Early stages of lung cancer?
I haven’t done that much research into this, just wondering what you guys think. I’ve had lower left back pain for about a month and a half now, I could’ve just strained a muscle, it feels like I’m stretching my muscle and it pains when I move certain ways or drive for long periods of time. I had the Swine Flu maybe 3 weeks ago now, and I still have a pretty bad cough. I do smoke cigarettes and have for about a year now, (I know, I know, I need to quit) I’ve read about how early stages of lung cancer can include muscle pains and a frequent cough. Does this sound like my symptoms to anyone else?
I don’t mean to be paranoid, but I guess better safe than sorry!
