French cancer association Chernobyl claim rejected by court
A French court rejects claims by thyroid cancer victims that radiation stemming from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident is to blame for their illness. In a high-profile case which opened a decade ago, the court concluded that the Chernobyl disaster had no measurable health impact in France. Associations have accused the French government of lying to the public about the dangers of radiation to protect France’s own nuclear industry from criticism.
